Application List: Application state and operation status

Application Status

Applications listed in the application list can have one of the following states:

  • STOPPED: application is stopped (not running)
  • STANDBY: resources are allocated for the application but the application is not running
  • STARTING: application is starting; all of its appliances that are not configured in standby mode are starting
  • MAINTENANCE: application is in maintenance mode; caused by one or more of its appliances entering maintenance mode (usually for the purpose of rebooting for various configuration changes to take affect; usually occurs mostly with Windows-based appliances)
  • RUNNING: application is running (all appliances are started and running)
  • STOPPING: application is in the process of stopping
  • FAILED: application has failed; this usually occurs when one or more of its appliances has failed to start or are not in their expected states
  • RESTARTING: application is restarting; it is first stopped if it is running and then the application is started
  • RESTART_STOPPING: application is being stopped as part of the application restart process
  • REPAIRING: application is being repaired; occurs during automatic application recovery in order to recover from grid controller failures
  • UNKNOWN: AppLogic has not yet determined the state of the application; only present during grid controller boot

When an application is started, stopped, restarted, or copied using the operations provided by the Applications tab within the AppLogic GUI, the status of the operation is displayed within the State column for the application.

Clicking on the black arrow to the right of the application status hides and unhides the status display.

During the process of the operation, clicking on the red square to the right of the application state cancels the operation.

ALERT! The application status is only displayed when the operation is initiated from the application list page of the AppLogic GUI. Status of operations initiated via the web shell or command line are not shown; except for the application state and percentage completion shown in the State column.

IDEA! Operation status and cancellation is also available for various infrastructure editor operations such as volume create/resize and class branch.
