led-green December 24 - AppLogic 2.4.7 is now available and is the latest production release!

User Interface

The primary user interface of AppLogic is visual, and is delivered via a browser. The visual interface is AJAX-based and is highly interactive, with the look and feel of an application running on your desktop. For power users, all system functions are also available through the command-line interface, making it easy to write automation scripts and integrate AppLogic with datacenter management systems. The user interface of AppLogic consists of the following major components:

System dashboard

The dashboard is a web application that displays the configuration and current status of the gird, and allows the user to start, stop and manage applications. In the next release, the dashboard will also support functions like log viewing, add/remove/manage servers, manage users, etc.

Visual monitoring console

The monitoring console is a web application that allows you to build a virtual network operatin center by configuring, save and displaying custom monitoring screens. The console combines run-time data from hardware, resource use and network traffic by application and appliance, and software-specific counters for inside most appliances such as from the Linux /proc file system, Apache, MySQL and many others.

Infrastructure editor

The editor is a web application that allows you to visually assemble virtual infrastructure, create custom virtual appliances, manage catalogs of appliances and configure applications. In the next release, the editor will support visual control, execution and debugging of applications, and will visualize runtime data within the logical structure of the application.

Command-line interface

The command line interface consists of several Linux command-line utilties that provide access to the full functionality of AppLogic, as well as a set of "event scripts" which run on appropriate system events such as start and stop of an application or component/appliance, failure of an appliance, detected illegal traffic in the system, server failure, etc.

The visual interface is accessed by pointing a browser at the IP address of the grid controller. The command-line interface is accessed by initiating an SSH session to the same IP address.
